dangerous multi-state manhunt unfolding at this hour, searching for a military trained former l.a.p.d. officer suspected of murdering three people so far and shooting several others. police say christopher dorner implicated himself with a chilling 14-page manifesto in which he warned of more carnage to come and police are warning their potential targets and confirmed that some of the officers involved in the manhunt opened fire in two separate incidents thinking that the suspect was approaching them in his truck and turned out that two civilians were injured in the first incident. it's unclear what happened in the second incident and none of those people appear connected to the suspect in any way. we suspect to learn more on this when the los angeles police chief takes the podium and there the press conference is getting ready and that will happen at any minute and we'll bring it to you. in the meantime, we have fox news coverage and trace gallagher is in our news room. and adam housley is in riverside, california with the latest on the manhunt. and i know it's changing by the minute
on a deadly shooting rampage and here is what we know at this hour. dorner was fired from the l.a.p.d. back in 2008. he is suspected of killing three people and police say that dorner has posted a manifesto of some sort online and named his other targets. moments ago authorities held a press conference and are now focusing on the area known as big bear valley in california where they're going to go door-to-door in search of the suspect. for the latest we check in with adam housley on the ground there. what's the latest. >> reporter: for viewers who may not have been to southern california when you fly in from the east big bear are the mountains to your right before you get to los angeles, a popular area in the summer and winter time and ski resorts shut down midway when the suspect's truck was found there burned out. the latest i understand is this, authorities wanted to capture him before nightfall, that did not happen. they did find fresh tracks from his burned out truck up there, but led to nothing, they have a two mile radius right now, the search going on, they're going door-to-door a
the lapd headquarters with what we have learned overnight. >> christopher dorner is a cop with a vendetta. he is well armed, well trained. few believe he will be taken alive. this is l.a. headquarters, it is very well guarded. there are snipers on the road because every officer inside are a potential target. his car was found at east bear, about an hour north of los angeles. overnight cops scoured the mountains going door to door, car to car looking for him and yet no sign of the suspect. >> they still have airline searches, ground searches and door-to-door searches going on. a lot of assistance from all of our neighboring counties and our police department. canine units here. and so far we have not located him. >> to understand who dorner is and what set him off, consider this sequence of events. one week ago today he was discharged from the naval reserve after being passed over twice for promotion. two days later he sat and killed monica kwan and her fiancee. she is the laureate of an ex--lapd guy. tuesday he checked into a hotel in san diego. wednesday he tried to steal a boat but the
